Do I Need To Keep Breastfeeding When Experiencing A Clogged Milk Duct?

Do not I repeat, do not stop breastfeeding/expressing milk. It can make things worse by increasing engorgement or creating another milk duct in the other breast.

Whether you see milk come out of your breast or not, KEEP EXPRESSING. The clog needs to be pulled out of the breast and released from the tissue.

How To Get Rid of A Clogged Milk Duct | Essentials

The best thing about this remedy is that it’s the easy and fastest way to treat this issue.

Epson salt is a worldwide remedy for swelling and inflammation! This is exactly what we need to release the milk bleb, but how?

A Haaka is a manual pump that uses suction to pump your milk out. It is such a breastfeeding essential for this hack, and it is for that one reason. Combining the benefits of Epson salt, Haaka suction, and hand expressions… will in the quickest way… set you up to successfully diminish that milk duct.

I recommend a breast massager or a rice sock because they will both move the circulation of the milk forward. Especially if you decide to use the warming setting on your breast massager.

After using the haaka for some time, I found out I was using it wrong… and this is the proper way to place one on your breast.

You will most likely have to incorporate this remedy a few times before you actually get it out, stay consistent.

Step By Step Haaka Duct Hack

Step 1: Take your haaka and pull the top “mouth” area back downwards.

Step 2: Put -warm- water into the haaka near the top, then pour 2 tbsp of epson salt.

Step 3: Place your nipple into the center of the haaka, dipping it into the water.

Step 4: Now flip the top “mouth” area back upwords, and it should quickly suction your breast.

Step 5: Check and make sure your nipple is covered in the water.

Step 6: Keep the Haaka on for about 10 to 15 minutes, break. Check the water to see if there is any milk or white-colored circular pebbles in it. If not… try to nurse a few minutes later or pump to see if your milk starts flowing again. If not, repeat these steps again until milk expresses as normal.

Take A Mental Break If You Need

If your breasts are sore, I recommend giving it a break for 1/2 to hour and try again. I recommend being consistent because the longer you stick with it the more painful the engorgement will be. I could not stand having one tiny breast, that obviously wasn’t enough milk for my newborn, to one hard breast filled of milk I couldn’t share with my baby.

Using a Haaka was the most effective way to release my milk ducts as soon as possible! Good luck mama, you got this!
